Invisibility of girls who passed by the juvenile justice system in Brazil

Over 19 years of work inside the feminine centers of freedom deprivation in the city of São Paulo, Renata Mendes will share with us a little of her trajectory inside the juvenile justice system, her questions and learnings that have pushed her to found the "Instituto Mundo Aflora" in 2016. The Institute creates life opportunities for girls, who are still serving or have just served socio-educational measures* in Brazil, to make new life choices. She will also show the social context of these teenagers, their realities and the work she develops together with her team to give visibility to their stories with the mission of bringing their life more care, protection and dignity.
*Socio-educational measures of Internment and Partial Freedom (or "Semi-Freedom") are part of a State Program, that instead of punishing children and teenagers as if they were adults, give the youngsters opportunities of social reintegration, in partnership with the community.
